But as amazing as it is, it’s also incredibly finicky, especially when it comes to the battery. I don’t drive the car every day – it’s more of a weekend toy for special occasions – and I’ve noticed that if I leave it parked for more than about two or three weeks, the battery drains completely and the car won’t start. I’ve been using a trickle charger to keep it topped up, but last week I had a situation where I forgot to plug it in and came back to a completely dead car. The problem is, I’ve heard that replacing the battery on these cars is an absolute nightmare because it’s not just a simple swap – apparently the battery is located in a really awkward spot and requires removing a bunch of trim and components just to access it. I called the dealership and they quoted me a price that honestly made me laugh because it was so absurdly high, and I really don’t want to go down that route if I don’t have to. I’ve been doing some research and I found a specialist that apparently runs this Bugatti battery repair workshop, which claims to have experience with these hypercars and can replace the battery at a fraction of the dealer cost. The thing is, I’m really nervous about letting anyone other than the factory touch this car because it’s so complex and specialized. I’ve heard stories about independent shops messing up the electronics on these cars and causing thousands of dollars worth of damage because they didn’t know what they were doing. On the other hand, I’ve also heard that some independent specialists are actually former Bugatti technicians who know these cars inside out and can do a better job for less money. I’m just not sure how to tell which is which. Has anyone here actually had experience with getting their Bugatti battery replaced outside of the dealership? I’m particularly interested in whether they had to do any kind of coding or programming after the battery was fitted, because I’ve heard that these cars have very sophisticated battery management systems that need to be reset properly. Also, I’m curious about what kind of battery these cars actually use – is it a special lightweight unit, or is it something more conventional that just has a crazy price tag because of the Bugatti badge?
